Flowers and a giveaway!

Pin It Now!

Happy Easter everyone!

I bought a gorgeous bouquet of blue hydrangeas at the grocery store yesterday. They were such a great deal at only $6.  I put them in some water right away but the next morning they were all wilted except this one stem! Such a disappointment but I'm glad I at least have one to enjoy!

I love flowers! I was excited when I received an email from Hoffman Media that they wanted to send me their new book, Flowers with Southern Lady and they also sent me two more to giveaway on my blog!

This book is stunning!  So many beautiful flowers! It makes me want to recreate some of them.  I really love the one above with the peonies and hydrangeas!

The book has flower arrangements for every season and they even have instructions on how to create some of them!

If you would like a chance to win one of these books, please leave a comment and just let me know if you have a favorite flower or if you love them all?

I will randomly select two winners next Sunday, April 27, 2014.  Since I will be shipping these out myself I'm going to limit it to those and the U.S. and Canada to keep the shipping costs down.  If you don't have a blog, please leave your email address so I have a way to contact you.

Good luck everyone!

The onset of spring for me is the beautiful blooming drapery of wisteria. The way it gently moves in the breeze lifting the scent for me is breathtaking.

You have a beautiful site and the photographs speak directly to my "decorative" soul.

I love Lavender and just got a couple of Hydrangea plants for our lanai, which I'm loving:) Thank you for the opportunity to win!

My favorite flowers are peonies and hydrangeas. I had the same thing happen to me with hydrangeas I bought them home from the grocery store put them in water the next day they were all wilted. Then I read somewhere that if you take all the leaves off they will not wilt. So try this next time it really works mine last a week or more. Happy planting everyone.

Lovely blog. We have a large garden and I love all flowers, but my favorite is cultivar day lilies which my husband and I hybridize. He works on skinny forms (spiders) and unusual forms. P.S. When hydrangeas wilt, they often can be revived by soaking in the sink/tub in enough water to cover the blooms. Soak for 2-3 hours for the best results.

I really love lilacs, but your hydrangeas are gorgeous. I think if you smash the stems of woody stemmed flowers with a hammer before you put them in warm water, they will absorb more water and remain fresh longer.

How does one choose a favorite?
Lavender and carnations for fragrance. Spring bulbs are a welcome sight after a long, cold winter. Marigolds, geraniums, zinnias, pansies, violets and petunias give us color all summer long. Hydrangeas and magnolias were my favorite when I lived in the South. It's just too difficult to choose a favorite!

Thanks for sharing this opportunity.
